Note: This brewery started as the NEW ALBANY BREWING CO. GEBHARD & BATE BREWING CO. information from a lawsuit. That lawsuit and this bottle validate the existence of the brewery. The lawsuit filed was for an illegal name change. It was noted that E. R. Bate, J. Gebhard and an unnamed party acquired all of the stock of the New Albany Brewing Company. Then without legally changing the name they started doing business under the name of GEBHARD & BATE BREWING CO. They were sued by the CINCINNATI COOPERAGE CO. who won, and the courts held all the stockholders not the company liable for the debt owed. So legally this brewery never existed. |
